Perspective

Rowen has the potential to become a platform for environmental sustainability through real physical interactions in our communities. Through storytelling that all ages can understand, sustainability becomes inspirational in the face of crisis. I’m excited to activate these community garden spaces where we can make a tangible, visible impact for our neighborhoods. One plot at a time, we can come together in temporary and permanent spaces as community leaders.

Shakeel Mohamed is a brand designer specializing in bespoke typeface development, strategic identity systems, community building, and design thought leadership. At TALISMAN, he leads innovative brand strategy for clients across higher education and performing arts, focusing on unconventional approaches that challenge industry norms.

His work centers on creating custom typographic solutions and developing forward-thinking brand frameworks that push creative boundaries. He values the craft of design and ensuring both clients and internal teams thrive throughout the process as much as building an exceptional final outcome.

Shakeel has a deep passion for spatial design and how design intersects with physical environments. Rowen’s fusion of data, technology, and design allows him to leverage his technical background in completely new ways, bringing analytical rigor to creative problem-solving.

He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from ArtCenter College of Design. Prior to his design career, he worked in software engineering after completing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Seattle University. He is actively involved in the design community in Los Angeles through AIGA, Type Thursday, and Work in Progress, where he frequently speaks on the intersection of identity, design leadership, technology, and typography.
